The cover letter is your opportunity to grab the employer's attention and focus him/her on who you are and why you are a match for the job.
Thank You Letters
Always send a thank-you letter after an interview or other personal interaction. Show the people you met that you appreciate their time and attention. Make sure to send it within 24 hours of your meeting or exchange, and take the time to write it well, a sloppy or poorly written one can have the opposite effect of what you are looking for.
