Useful Information

  • Pre- arrival:

Please make sure your passport is valid for at least six months after you plan to leave Israel. Also, if you are holding a passport other than Israeli or US, please check with the Israeli consulate in your area whether you need a visa to enter Israel. Please print this invitation letter and carry it with you for your travel. You could be asked to present it to the immigration officer.

You will arrive to the Ben Gurion International Airport located about 25 km east of Tel Aviv. While Israel is known for its strict security and travel safety checks, these security measures are similar to those currently practiced in the US. Please be prepared to answer questions regarding the reason for your visit, the length of your visit and your place of stay.

  • Currency:

New Israeli Shekel" or NIS. Currently, exchange rates are as follows: US$1 = 3.8 NIS, 1 Euro = 4.7 NIS (these rates are subject to changes). A taxi from the airport to the center of Tel Aviv will cost approx. 150-170 NIS. We suggest that you avoid transacting with foreign currency. We recommend that you either bring about 500 NIS with you or use the ATM machine at the airport to withdraw cash (a cash machine located opposite customs).

  • Travel to and from Ben Gurion Airport:

By Bus: Bus stops are located in Terminal 3 on the second level of the multilevel road, across from Gates 21 and 23. Buses are frequent to Tel-Aviv Central Bus Station and to Tel-Aviv’s Arlozorov Train Station. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes.

By Train: The train station is located on Level S adjacent to the Greeters’ Hall. Train tickets can be purchased through automatic ticket machines on Level G of the terminal. Tel Aviv has four train stations. For best access to the city center, use either “Tel Aviv Merkaz” (officially named “Savidor”), or “Hashalom”.
Journey time is approximately 20 minutes.
