Your Pitch: It’s Not About Your Idea – It’s About You!

On March 25, over 80 Tel Aviv University students and alumni attended a session on “The Art of a Smart Pitch” with Dr. Eyal Benjamin and Attorney Sharon Gazit. The meetup took place at the Coller School of Management as part of the preparations for the 2018 Coller $100,000 Startup Competition.

Dr. Eyal Benjamin, a serial entrepreneur and professor of strategic innovation, shared his insights on how to pitch to investors. In a lively and practical presentation, Eyal described three types of pitches: a stage pitch, a mail pitch, and a board pitch. He elaborated on the key components of a pitch, and gave valuable tips on how to prepare  a pitch and tailor it to the setting and target audience.

Att. Sharon Gazit, Head of the Corporate and Technology Department at the Goldfarb Seligman & Co. law firm, spoke about the legal aspects of turning an idea into a startup, including legally establishing founders' relationships, effective ways of protecting a startup's confidential information and intellectual property rights, and how to prepare a startup for its first round of fundraising. Serving as legal counsel to various startups in the hi-tech and biotech industries, Sharon is highly experienced in advising them on day-to-day issues, as well as fundraising transactions, and M&A's.
