Short Biography

Dr. Lia Sheer is an Assistant Professor of Innovation and New Ventures (Senior Lecturer, Tenure-Track) at the Coller School of Management of Tel-Aviv University. Her research focuses on organizing scientific discovery for innovation inside R&D firms. More specifically, she examines the interplay between public and corporate science, innovation, markets for technology, knowledge spillovers, as well as their aggregated effect on firm-level outcomes. As part of her research initiatives, she compiles open-source large-scale firm-level datasets on innovation. Her research has been featured in top academic journals, including the American Economic Review and Research Policy. She received her Ph.D. in Business Administration (Strategy) from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. She was the 2020-2021 recipient of the Fuqua School of Business's Best Dissertation Award. She earned an MBA from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a B.A. in Economics from Tel-Aviv University. Prior to entering academia, she worked in the Banking Industry and was an Economic Consultant in the Ministry of Defense Budget Department, Israel.
